Vestawood Apartments - FAQ's and Site Feedback Form

Q: What is Vestawood doing for the environment?

A: Vestawood cares about our environment and works hard to be a good steward.  Below you will find a list of some of the things we are doing to help our environment:

  • We have installed (May 2009) new insulated PELLA windows and patio doors, which reduces energy consumption for our tenants by reducing their heating and cooling demands.  This also reduces their monthly energy expenses.
  • Exterior flood lights are low-energy CF (compact flourescent) bulbs with solar switches.
  • We use low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints on all interiors and exteriors.
  • We have minimized grass lawn areas and maximized 'natural' areas with trees, reducing the amount of maintenance (mowing, trimming) required and providing better erosion control.
  • Laudromat appliances are Energy-Star rated Maytag front-load washers, which use 60% less water and electricity than conventional top-load washers.
  • Utilities are paid by the tenant, maximizing personal responsibility by linking consumption with expense. Studies indicate that when a person is responsible for paying for what they consume, usage declines anywhere from 5 to 30%.
